Vacancy Update
Dear Friends of St Anne's,
We are writing with an unexpected update regarding the interviews planned for 22 July.
Two of the three shortlisted candidates are no longer able to attend for interview, leaving one candidate who will now attend.
We appreciate that this will naturally raise questions. The withdrawals are for different reasons, but Bishop Paul has made it clear that these are strictly confidential matters and we are unable to share any further details. We would like to reassure you that nothing we have been told suggests that these withdrawals reflect St Anne's, our Parish Profile or the work that has gone into this recruitment process.
Similarly, we have been asked how many applications were received. We have been advised that diocesan policy is not to disclose applicant numbers, and Archdeacon Catharine has reiterated this to us.
The Diocese and interview panel are responsible for overseeing the recruitment process and ensuring it is conducted fairly and thoroughly. As Parish Representatives, we have been fully involved throughout and have been impressed by the openness, professionalism and rigour of the process.
We understand that many people in the parish are naturally curious. However, this process is governed by Church of England regulations and diocesan policy, which we are required to follow.
As Archdeacon Catharine reminded us, we only need one candidate to appoint one Vicar-even if having several candidates can feel more reassuring.
Please pray that this candidate is the person God is calling to lead St Anne's. Equally, if they are not, pray that the interview panel is given the wisdom and clarity to recognise that.
Thank you for your continued support and, above all, please continue to hold the candidate, the interview panel and the future of St Anne's in your prayers.
Andy and Carolyn
Churchwardens and Parish Representatives
God our Father, you have welcomed each one of us in Jesus and called us to be His body in this place: Send your Holy Spirit at this time of uncertainty and change, to fill us with vision, energy, and faithfulness in prayer, that we may be true to our calling to bring new life to our community.
Give your heavenly wisdom to those who are to choose a new vicar for this parish, that she or he may be a wise and gentle shepherd of your people, ready to serve us with joy, to build us up in faith and to lead us by example in loving obedience to your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen
