There are many ways we wish to be more active providing for the community in the church and the community we live in, showing how much Christ has inspired us to live our lives in a distinctive way.

Running a church such as St Anne's is expensive. It costs over £80,000 per year. The day to day running costs of the church are quite small but almost 75% of our income goes to the Dioces of Guildford as our 'Parish Share' to pay for the centrally organised assistance they provide and also contributes to the cost of clergy.

Currently St Anne's is running at a deficit and the first step to being able to implement all our aspirations is to negate this deficit. Thank you to everyone who supports us so generously. However please don't be offended if we just remind you to check the following:

Gift Aid your donations -if you are a tax payer, please Gift Aid so we can claim 28% back from the Inland Revenue

Give regularly - please join our Planned Giving scheme to help us better forecast income

Review your Giving - these are straitened and difficult times, we recognised, but if we could increase parish giving from about 3% of surplus income, to just 4% we estimate that the deficit would be completely overcome.

Addtionally, if you can think of money saving suggestions, please do let one of the PCC know.

What it means to be a Christian.

Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.

For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

…Father… God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God's beloved child.

…Son… God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ. Jesus' life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.

…and Holy Spirit… God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world - changed lives and a transformed society.

How are we doing?

The first three quarters of 2010 (see graph below) have seen the church income fall, and the expenditure slightly increase.

The deficit has now reached parity with income - almost £1000 a week. Clearly we cannot sustain this and the PCC are trying to reduce it. Please share with any of the PCC your ideas as to what can be tried to reduce it.
