Worship through giving

As a church we strive to worship Christ in our daily lives and in the community around us. We aim to do this by our thoughts, words and actions, including our financial contribution to support those who need it.

Jo Lyddiatt and friends recently organised a Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning and we can report that they raised a splendid £410! Thank you all those who supported it.

We give each year a proportion of our collections to local charities doing good work in the local community. The charities we are supporting in 2010 are listed to the right.

We are also aware of the needs of our brothers and sisters further afield. St Anne's is a Fairtrade church meaning that all our tea, coffee etc are sourced from fair trade supplies who have guaranteed fair conditions for the workers producing their goods. An honesty box fair trade shop is available in a cupboard in the church centre and we hold stalls after the main services.

At Christmas the congregation always contribute scores of boxes to the Operation Christmas Child campaign to send gifts to children around the world. The collection of boxes for 2010 is just beginning. They need to be left filled, in church by mid November. See Eve for more details.

A group of 20 from the congregation also keep NSPCC boxes. The total raised for 2010 in Bagshot is £1,275 (including donations of some fees received by bellringers). Thank you so much to all those who collect. Do contact Sue if you would like to keep a box at home.

What it means to be a Christian.

Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.

For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

…Father… God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God's beloved child.

…Son… God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ. Jesus' life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.

…and Holy Spirit… God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world - changed lives and a transformed society.
